Human Development Paper
November 11, 2018
Do you ever wonder how the changes that happened in your childhood impact your life
when growing up? According to Erik Erikson, psychosocial development describes the impact
of social experience across the whole lifespan to see how it plays a role in the development and
growth of human beings (Verywell Mind, 2018). Erik Erikson creates eight (8) stages of
psychosocial development, which are (1) Trust vs Mistrust, (2) Autonomy vs. Shame & Doubt,
(3) Initiative vs. Guilt, (4) Industry vs. Inferiority, (5) Identity vs. Confusion, (6) Intimacy vs.
Isolation, (7) Generativity vs. Stagnation, and (8) Integrity vs. Despair(Crowe-associates.co.uk,
2018). The main stages of the psychosocial development are stage 4 – Industry vs. Inferiority,
stage 5 – Identity vs. Confusion, and stage 6 – Intimacy vs. Isolation. Many changes that occur
during stages 4, 5 and 6 are what have a huge impact while growing up and in the future.
