HubSpot embraced inbound marketing as a business philosophy. The software company’s
company success grows from both their use of inbound marketing and their products that serve
as inbound marketing tools. HubSpot recognized that the “rules of marketing” changed with the
internet and Web 2.0.
Traditional marketing like direct mail, trade shows, television ads diminished in effectiveness
because consumers started to feel bombarded and interrupted. Inbound marketing focuses on the
idea of pulling relevant prospects and customers toward a business and its products. This differs
from the more traditional marketing approach where a business’s message is pushed to a mass
audience that contains many who are not in the market for the product.
HubSpot recognized three distinct skills to maximize inbound marketing. The first Skill is the
ability to write compelling content that can attract customers to the business. The second skill is
