Huawei Technologies Company is a multinational telecom company of Chinese origin
founded by Ren Zhengfei in 1987 (Wu et al., 2020). The company is headquartered in Shenzhen,
Guangdong and is currently ranked as the second largest mobile telecommunications company,
having overtaken Apple by market share as at the end of 2018, falling only behind the South
Korean tech giant, Samsung. As at the end of 2018, Huawei registered sales revenues of USD
105.2 billion, with the year 2019 registering a 20% growth rate in revenue to stand at $122.9
billion even as the tech giant struggled to handle the challenges appended by the US ban on the
purchase of Huawei products in the US, with companies such as Google restricting its access to
