Tia Alicia’s Family Restaurant is a small business employing less than 500 individuals.
The company is primarily located in Rockland County, New York and includes seven different
locations. Most employees work in a part-time status. The current operations manager oversees
the human resource functions. She is responsible for scheduling, recruiting, hiring, and general
employee correspondence. Additionally, the operations manager oversees payroll using
Microsoft Excel to calculate and another computer application to physically print the checks.
The operations manager is struggling to keep up with managing the travel between locations and
completing all the necessary human resource and payroll functions.
The operations manager is looking for a cost-effective and time efficient system to assist
her in completing the human resource and payroll functions. The operations manager hopes to
reduce the required travel by implementing a new human resource information system to assist
with these duties. To determine the appropriate human resource information system (HRIS)
solution, the organization will need to undergo a needs analysis. The analysis will help
determine the best solution to organize some or all the information and minimize the time
required to be spent on the human resource and payroll functions.
