HRM Incident 1 Flextime
03/09/2017
10-18 What could Kathy have done to keep the above situation from occurring?
I believe that Kathy should have given every employee a way to dock their hours while working in core
time and flextime work. That way she would be able to monitor everyone’s hours per day or per week to
ensure that her employees are working for eight full hours. Kathy could have also asked her employees
for feedback about the flextime scheduling, maybe they weren’t as motivated as she presumed they
were. She could have also asked her employees to log all of their work, so that she would know if her
employees were slacking. Basically Kathy had no system of control to monitor her employees actions, or
lack thereof.
10-19 Are there other workplace flexibility arrangements that Kathy might use to improve morale?
Kathy could be able to implement the compressed workweek to her employees. Maybe with a system of
control in place her employees would be able to get the job done and be happier about it too. Kathy
