How to Build and Encourage Successful Teams
WHAT IS A TEAM?
A team is a small group of people who are working towards a common goal. When
participating in a team, members should be aware of what their responsibility and
authority is within the team. When working in a team there should be one goal and one
purpose.
ROLES WITHIN A TEAM
Team Leader
The first step in assigning roles to team is to pick a team leader. There are five qualities that
a person must have, in order to be an effective team leader:
1. Lead, and not Delegate – An effective way for a team leader to teach its members is
to lead by example.
2. Provide Constructive Feedback When a leader gives feedback, they should

they are more likely to rub off on others.
Team Members
The remaining individuals of a team are called team members. Members can be assigned
individual titles or roles that relate to the project. When working in a team, the greatest

communication means members are able to trust and work with each other. They
