How Our Self Image and Social Identities Are Socially Constructed?
We humans have many beliefs that keeps us one in the society to identify who we are or where we
belong in the society. Self-image is representing who you are as a person it is like your self-
categorization that define you as a unique person, we are all different and we have our own role in
the society. It is our characteristics we have on ourselves such as our perspectives, talent,
intelligence, kindness, and our bad sides as well, it is like looking to yourself in the mirror and
reflect who we really are. However, in the social identities this is where we identify where we
belong, for example I am a Catholic so I should go to the church like the other Catholics. The
social identity is being taught or being told by our parents that will be determined our identity as
a child, but it was being changed as we grow up, we explore ourselves more on where we are really
belong. We communicate to other people so that we can acknowledge other people and
understands them as an individual. Social identities allows us to be part of a certain group and gain
knowledge about shaping ourselves, and how we interact to the person. It influence us to identify
who we really our to know the identity or our role we play in the society so that we know how to
move in or to fit in.
