The portion related to my topic begins at the “6th minute”
The name of the show that I decided to watch was “How It Is Made” and the platform
that I chose to watch it on was YouTube. This video details how the overall process a piece
undergoes to become a fully functional Cue Stick. Very interesting to see what we can create
from some wood, glue and plastic.
Manufacturing Process:
The company must order wood that is desired by the player. In this video they use “Bird’s
Eye maple” which comes in the shape of a square block. It is then push through a donut shaped
carver that makes the square block become cylindrical. A second steel cutter reduces the
diameter of the cylindrical so that there are now two sections, similar to the body of a Double A
battery and the tips of that battery. A ring is now manually fitted and glued to the tip that was just
carved in the previous step. A second cylindrical piece is then attached extending the original
stick. A computerized machine then smoothes the two pieces until they have the same diameter
giving it the long pool stick look that everyone is familiar with. A machine called the CNC inlay
