Good morning everyone. I am Lea Jane Javier Bautista and I am one of your speakers
for this day. Today, we will talk about “How information technology changed the
dynamics of communication in families and society”. I know all of us here have been
engaged to information technology and it brings a lot of effects to us. But first, what is
information technology? According to encyclopedia, it is a term that encompasses all
forms of technology used to create, store, exchange and utilize information in its various
forms including business data, conversations, still images, motion pictures and
multimedia presentations. ICT have influenced and modified economic, politic, social
and cultural structures.
Nowadays, as we compare our lives to our elders, we can say that we do have a lot of
differences from them, from the way we live, the way we carry ourselves, and the way
we handle things around us and it is because of information technology. Yes, it has a lot
of advantages to us but we cannot deny the fact that it also has disadvantages which
may greatly affect our lives especially to the young people. However, information
technology is really important to everyone especially right now that our world is facing a
global crisis and it is not something we must ignore.
