How I Became a “Parent” At 16
When a person hears the word, “parent,” it is a normal thought to think of two people, not
too young, but also not to old, that care for their children. Parenthood, as my mother said, “would
be a job that never stops evolving.” My parents made me on numerous occasions to take care of
my brother, Moses. Something that I clearly remember is that my parents, mostly my mom,
would say that I was his “parent.” Furthermore, people outside of the family said I was a
“parent.” For me to hear that I was a “parent” to people was quite odd, noting that I was only
