How are we raising our Girls?
RAISING GIRLS 2
ABSTRACT
This is a general research paper revolving around how girls are raised differently from boys and
how it starts from an early age of the life of a girl. From the attitude of parents and different
parenting approaches, school, and society impact a girl’s social skills to the type of
encouragement. A girl receives building characteristics like self-doubt, over-cautious and lacking
bravery to take risks. Girls set up high standards for themselves to gain approval. Growing up in
a male dominant society, these girls remain under pressure of high performance and tend to give
up early. Education deficit, the Gender wage gap, and lack of women empowerment have a toll
on the world’s economy as a major proportion is not participating equally in economic growth.
Supportive sisterhood network tells women that they are not alone in their struggles. Conscious
and unconscious gender-based parenting has an impact on a girl’s approach towards life
decisions and acts as a barrier to a girl’s brave steps in life choices. The need is to pay heed to
such a sensitive issue that although it is a reality that girls differ in many aspects from boys, but
they deserve the same rights as boys from birth, to childhood, and so on. They must be given
proper acknowledgment in the house and also in society. Their respect must be acknowledged
and no deficiency in the professional fields should remain when such requirements will be
fulfilled.

How are Girls raised differently from Boys?
From a very early age, girls show different responses from boys towards challenging and
rewarding situations and correspondingly are raised differently from boys. It is very interesting
to know that how parents raise their girls and boys differently whether consciously or
unconsciously. From genetics to physical appearances, emotional responses, and social roles,
girls hold a special place in the community. As nature depicts there is a profound contrariety in
which girls are different from boys. Starting from an early age, a girl covers the initial
development phase earlier than boys like verbal skills, walking, developing eye-hand
coordination, emotion control, more easily calm down, while boys on the other hand are stressed
more and have aggressive behavior. They expressed their emotions by words while boys rely on
sounds and tend to use words only about 60 percent of the time.
Parents Attitude towards Girls
Parents are more protective of their daughters. They are more concerned about their
activities, sleeping times, healthy diet, studies as daughters are closer to their parents. Research
show that from early childhood parents are more careful in listening to their daughter’s problems,
discussing their daily activities read bedtime stories to them. That is why they are better at
learning and verbal skills and are more confident in telling every detail of life aspect to their
parents (Frank, 2018). Parents are more helpful to their daughters in completing a task either in
fear of failing to be overprotective or are more worried about their daughters. But despite their
good intentions, this behavior makes the daughter rely more on them rather than take steps by
their selves. At early ages girls are more confident, having tremendous innate capabilities,
develop language and fine motor skills earlier than boys. They do much better in elementary
school, but the main point is to continue these practices in Higher school where they tend to be

shyer and reserve in raising their hands to ask a question to their teachers and in delivering a
presentation. Parents show more kindness, empathy, and interpersonal closeness towards their
daughters whereas in the case of boys they teach them to be more brave, courageous, dominant,
and powerful enough to lead the world.
Parenting Control Theories
There are two types of theories that play a great role in children’s development of
autonomous or controlled regulation behavior:
1. Autonomy Supportive
Autonomy supportive provides a better opportunity in raising children especially girls
when it comes to the point of growing better in every aspect of their lives, in decision making,
