How Computers Are Used in My Job
Computers are electronic devices that manipulate data or information by carrying out a
sequence of logical or arithmetic operations. It is also capable of processing, storing, and
retrieving data. Modern computers can follow generalized sets of commands referred to as
programs, which enable them to undertake overly complicated tasks. Additionally, computers are
used to perform a myriad of tasks in an organization ranging from calculation to information
storage (Joseph, 2018). The widespread computer use has revolutionized numerous aspects of
business and labor. In a span of few years, the computer has shifted from a tool used by a few
individuals to something that can be accessed by people in every department in almost all
industries. In other words, it is widely accessible to many people in an organization. People use
computers for different reasons in an organization. According to recent statistics, three-quarters
of workers use computers to access the internet or send e-mails. Two-thirds use computers for
desktop publishing or word processing (U.S. Bureau of Labor, 2015). The use of computers is
prevalent in many organizations and some workplaces such as ours might find it impossible to
work without them. It is due to this reason that this paper explains how computers are used in my
workplace.
Communication
In our organization, we used computers to communicate with clients. Computers are an
important tool when it comes to establishing and maintaining contact with customers (Robison,
2018). Computers enable us to computer efficiently with clients via Skype, emails, and through

other means such as social media. Keeping in touch with our customers makes it easier for
customers to place orders, ask for more information, or make inquiries. Additionally, it also
becomes easy for our organization to provide customer care assistance in an efficient and timely
way. Besides, the organizations will be capable of keeping the customers up to date information
concerning new developments.
Communication does not only involve the customers but also other employees within the
workplace (Joseph, 2018). Computer plays a significant role in eliminating physical meetings
with workers to pass information. Managers simply need to send emails to their workers or
through other suitable communication media. To shed more light on this, computers have played
