MGM Resorts International
The MGM Resorts origins date back to the late 1960s and an 8th grade dropout named
Kirk Kerkorian. Kirk became the most famous and successful businessman of his generation. He
was an early pioneer of Vegas. He built the hotel in 1962, it was the largest hotel in the world at
that time. In 1966, he built the MCM Grand Hotel which surpassed International Hotel in size
and was larger than the empire state building. Kirk left the business in 2002.
The MGM grand is one of the first hotels I remember lodging at when I was a little girl. I
remember being so excited to go to Vegas and see all the entertainment that The MGM had to
offer. I was five years old and my mom had bought me tickets to see Britney Spears in Concert.
As a five year old, I did not know all that was involved in the hotel world, I just knew there were
