First, Tony talked to us about what gambling is. 48 states offer at least one
form of gambling. The two states that don’t are Utah and Hawaii. Four types of
gambling in PA: Horse racing, small games of chance, lottery games, and casinos.
Types of gambling not permitted in PA: internet gaming, fantasy sports, sports
betting, gambling in bars, and slots in airports. Casinos operate in 40 states. $240
billion industry, 1.7 million jobs $38 billion in tax revenue. Most of PA’s casinos are
located on the eastern side of the state because there is a bigger population there.
Types of gambling in PA casinos: slot machines and table games. On average, slot
machines pay out 90% — this is over the lifetime of the machine, which could be
millions of plays.
After, Doug talked to us about the PA Gaming Control Board. If you have a
license to work at a casino, you could be doing a myriad of jobs. They look at
everything you do. What you write on Facebook, tweet, instagram, etc. It is a
privlidge to work at a casino, so it is hugely based on your character. Must be 18 to
play the lottery, 18 to bet on small games, 18 to bet on horse racing, but 21 to
