Q1: Explain the difference in the time scale of storm surge and breaking waves
along the coastline.
Storm surges are the result of a hurricane. They rise in water level of the ocean
surface, due to the wind blown over the surface of the ocean. The intensity of the surges
is higher, where the speed of wind is maximum. Thus, the time for the storm surges are
to the reduce in intensity of the hurricane. After this the breaking of waves takes place,
the till the existence of the low-pressure zone the storm surges will persist. So, after this
the breaking of waves takes place.
Q2: What are the three different zones of a river and what are the characteristics
of flooding for each of the 3 zones?
The three different zones of a river are young stage, mature stage and old stage.
These zones have different flooding characteristics, in the young stage, the flood duration
is very short and frequent. In the mature stage there is generally less flooding, so it occurs
rarely. Finally, in the old stage Flood duration is very high and common.
