Homework #3
The news article displays a heinous act from the Dallas Cowboys Football players as they
“supposedly” are burning an effigy of their coach in midfield. The source contains a brief article
that coincides with the headline. The article discusses turmoils in the locker room and that this
was how the players decided to deal with their distraught towards their coach. No author is
specifically stated, but the article is from the onion so I assume that they had their own teamwork
on this story. The article exaggerates the distinction of the Dallas Cowboys. They have lost their
first and second-string quarterback and have a new coach this year. There has been a lot of
fighting this year between the team due to a rough start in the year having a record of 2-7. The
coach was upset at players for not standing up for a cheap hit against their second-string
quarterback, Andy Dalton. Players are upset at the coaching staff for not doing their job correctly
and helping the team through these tough times. This is barely brought up in the article with the
only truthful statement really being the turmoil going on internally with the team. The article
exaggerates the actions of players towards their coach. No effigy was burned, no photos of the
coach with his eyes gouged out are real, and no players broke into the house of the coach and
painted on all walls to “resign.” This article is extremely false and could be easily deceiving as
there are a lot of issues going on with the Dallas Cowboys, so one could believe that players
might be upset and retaliate.
