Organizations keep inventory so that they can satisfy customer demands and protect
themselves against delays and shortages. Managing inventory has become the most important
concern for organizations. Inventory management includes all activities that are associated with
managing the inventory levels of raw materials, finished goods and work in progress so that supply
function run smoothly and cost of over and under stock are kept at a minimum (Oluwaseyi Joseph
Afolabi, 2017). Problems in inventory management can lead to a shortage and stock-outs problems.
Inventory management makes the organization flexible enough to respond to changing customer
demands in an effective manner. Inventory management enables the organization to run its
operation smoothly because the raw material and other components are available in the warehouse.
Small and medium businesses use excels, google sheet and manual registers to keep the record of
inventory so that they can make decisions about ordering (What is inventory management?, 2019).
