Homer’s the Odyssey: The Leader that Failed
What is a leader? What qualities make a good leader? In today’s society we see leaders as people
who are in power and in control of a popularity, that make important decisions to ensure the best environment
for their people. A leader is someone who is honest, care for one’s safety, and communicate effectively in
order to lead a system of people that can function properly without collapsing. In Homer‘s the Odyssey,
Odysseus failed as a leader because he was careless and lacked true communication skills which caused his
soldiers to die, suffer, and delay his return home to Ithaca.
