1. Tara Burton argument is about how theology is not just about religion but that theology is the
closest thing we have at the moment to study all of human culture that was once very common
but is now rare. I found her argument very compelling when I first signed up for theology I really
was dreading it from the start i’m not a very religious guy and this was a type of class I probably
wouldn’t have signed up for if I wasn’t forced to. But she brought up the idea that theology was
more about studying human culture and practices rather than just the religions made it more
interesting.
2.Yancey’s argument is basically saying that people who follow religions are hypocrites and that
people should do what they are preaching and believe in and that they should act on what they
believe in not just what the religion says too and I found that very interesting because i’ve never
really thought about that way.
3. I think we study theology not just to know about the religions because I think thats the major
stereotype for theology but instead to understand human culture that we wouldn’t normally
understand without it.
