History of search engine
The search engine is a great tool to find anything and everything someone could
be looking for, from music to television shows to articles, it can all be found through a
search engine. However it wasn’t always this easy. Before search engines existed, the
Internet was a collection of File Transfer Protocol (FTP) sites that allowed individuals to
share documents and files (Short History of Early Search Engines, 2016). With the
development of the first search engine, Archie, it enabled individuals to easily navigate
the web and search for anything they wanted. A student at McGill University founded
Archie in 1990 when Alan Emtage developed it for a school project (The History of
