Introduction
Business management is defined as “the activities associated with running a company,
such as controlling, leading, monitoring, organizing and planning” (BusinessDictionary.com,
n.d.). A manager must find the best way to perform those activities and this is called a
management theory. Over the course of hundreds of years this practice has evolved and
allowed businesses to more efficiently manage and become more successful. Then with the
emergence of the Industrial Revolution things changed and the improvement of the science and
practice of management took off. The theories developed since then have had a lasting impact
on today’s management profession and have contributed to amazing advances in technology,
