History of Chocolate, Coffee and Tea
Chocolate
The main ingredients of chocolate are cocoa – including cocoa powder and cocoa butter.
The cocoa powder comes from cocoa seeds, which is why chocolate tastes bitter because of the
seeds. Cocoa seeds come from cocoa trees, which requires the combination of rain, hot
temperature, and shades in order to grow and cultivate. The growth will thrive if it is near the
north and south of equator. That is why the history or culture are generated from the countries
near the north and south of equator, like America.
Chocolate has surprisingly thousands of years of history. The history and culture of
chocolate were generated from Mesoamerica, dated back to 1900 BC. The ancient
Mesoamericans first discovered cocoa plants in the central rainforests in central America. They
fermented the seed and roasted and ground them into powder, and mix the powder with
ingredients like vanilla honey, and drink it as a beverage. Because the cocoa drinks provides high
energy and enhancing the mood, people value it very high spiritually. The Mayans worshiped the
