Industrial/Market Revolution
Over the past couple weeks we have learned about the market and industrial revolution
including some of the major changes that came out of the market and industrial revolution,
who they benefitted the most and the least or if they benefitted everyone, and my opinion
of the revolution and if it was liberating or oppressive. This includes all of the
contributions Eli Whitney and the Lowell mill girls and many others from this time period.
The industrial revolution was the ongoing effort over many decades to increase production
by using machines rather than people. Some of the major changes that came out of the
market and industrial revolution would be the use of the spinning jenny, power looms, and
water frames which improved efficiency and increased owners’ profits. Some other things
would be the Cotton Gin which is a contraption created by Eli Whitney helped extract the
seeds out of raw cotton making it able to be used to produce clothing. This helped slave
increase production to 50 pounds of usable cotton. This was soon put into factories which
had all the steps to making clothing under one roof. Other things could be farm
implements which are farming tools which make work easier and take less time. These are
all great inventions that came out of the new revolutions occurring.
The new changes might not have benefitted the lower class citizens but it defiantly boosted
the income of the high class. For the lower class it helped a little by causing more jobs to
