Chapter 26 HIST 102 Essay
The Cold War was a very confusing time for Americans. Many wanted love and
not war. There were many movements and protests during this time. There were a lot of
people speaking out about what was going on during this time. In this essay I will be
discussing the matters that occurred during this time.
In 1960 the democrat’s choice was Jack Kennedy. The Kennedy family seemed
to represent a new age. Kennedy brought excitement and youth. Nixon had not been
groomed for television. The Kennedy family put up thousands of dollars for camera
crews, and the films became a part of his campaign. Kennedy increased the military
budget, it brought more jobs. California became the sixth largest economy in the world.
