Lewis Beckman was one of those youngsters who just sparkles. For all his short life, he
appeared to coast easily to the best regardless of what he attempted to do. He was a soccer player, a
saxophone player, an author, a performer in group theater, one of the best understudies in our province
of South Carolina. We, his folks, thought he was the most splendid kid on the planet. We figured he
would grow up to set the world ablaze.
