As a college student in the twenty-first century, cultural influences from various media
outlets (social media apps, television, movies, the internet, etc.) have become a part of an
individual’s daily life. More so, it is not unusual to witness via social media or even in person
surrounding individuals partaking or conjuring plans to partake in the use of alcohol. If an
individual is of age, and not excessively indulging in alcoholic beverages, then he/she is known
to be socially drinking. However, when an individual takes in excessive amounts of alcohol over
a short-time span, he/she is known to be heavily or binge drinking which is extremely dangerous
and unhealthy. The basis of these cultural practices can be seen by any individual; but when it
comes to the societal, sociological, and psychological observations of alcohol use amongst a
