Healthy Eating
Healthy eating is a struggle for many Americans in today’s society. Some reasons for that
is that food that is unhealthy for example, a fast food burger and fries combo is cheaper than
fruits or vegetables; so Americans with a tight budget tend to go for the fast food combo instead
of the fruits and vegetables because they’re getting more of a meal from the combo than the
fruits and vegetables. Another reason Americans don’t eat healthy is because they don’t know
how to. They think healthy eating is just fruits and vegetables and nothing else. While fruits and
vegetables are healthy other food groups can be healthy as well. The ways to keep a healthy diet
are simple. 1. Budget 2. Know your food groups and 3. Proportion. As long as people follow
these steps they can have a healthy diet.
First step to having a healthy diet for me personally is to budget because some food are
more expensive than others. First thing a person has to decide is if they want quality over
quantity. Organic foods are more expensive than non-organic, but with non-organic foods there
are ways to clean them properly than with just water. Then depending on your income budget out
your days or weeks or months. I prefer budgeting out my week because I don’t go to the grocery
store everyday. Grocery Lists are life savers. Plan out necessities like toiletries first; so you know
your budget for food that week. Then plan out the meals you would want to have for the week.
See if you can adjust the ingredients in the meal A. to make more healthy or B. to make more
affordable. Using coupons for toiletries and food can really help a person on a budget. The key is
to make the time to look for coupons and in today’s time with technology there are a ton of
coupon apps out there making life much more easy. Cutting out unnecessary cost helps as well.
If you get your nails done or hair done an excessive amount than cut back because that will free
up money in your bank account as well as cutting back on eating out. If you budget and plan
knowledge behind a healthy diet. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it. So start today!
A healthy diet is just facts and hard work.
