ASSIGNMENT 1 2
Assignment 1
Health promotion has undergone significant change beginning in the 19th century, which
has allowed modern health educators reach far more people than ever before. The seven areas of
responsibilities, the epitome of health education today, have evolved with health promotion to be
the thing that ultimately defines the role of the health educator. As health promotion slowly
began to come to the forefront of societal needs, reports like the Lalonde report and Healthy
People report solidified official recognition of health promotion and education (Fertman &
Allensworth, 2010). If one is to appreciate and improve upon the history of health promotion, it
is important to understand how the seven areas of responsibility relate to health education as a
whole.
