Question 1—Purpose of HIS and Technology Governance
A healthcare information system (HIS) is critical to managing healthcare data. HIS is
responsible for collecting, storing, managing, and transmitting the electronic medical record
(EMR) of a patient so that the government and medical service providers can make informed
healthcare policies and accurate medical decisions (Wager, Lee & Glaser, 2017). HIS targets
data management and efficiency by accomplishing the following: HIS uses data analytics to
collect, compile, and assess health data, which means that doctors have ready access to patient’s
data and therefore costs of treatment will be considerably lower. It facilitates collaborative care
