Introduction
CPOE stands for computerized practitioner order entry, which the letter “P” is either used
as a physician or even provider depending on the authors involved. CPOE has several yet
similar definitions that focus on a particular workflow; however, the main topic is order entry
similar to a specific template. CPOE is characterized as the computerized entering of data, by a
certified medical expert as a guide for treating patients. CPOE is a mechanism of understanding
a doctors order for a patient’s healthcare needs electronically to improve the diagnosis,
prognosis and delivery or care. CPOE has now been around for a few decades and is becoming
increasingly popular now with the latest technology advances such as Smart Technology and
EPIC. CPOE and EHR are complementary, and an essential part of information technology and
