Harriet​ ​Ann​ ​Jacobs​ ​is​ ​the​ ​historical​ ​figure​ ​that​ ​I​ ​had​ ​chosen​ ​to​ ​do​ ​my​ ​research​ ​paper​ ​on.​ ​I
had​ ​chose​ ​my​ ​topic​ ​based​ ​on​ ​how​ ​much​ ​I​ ​personally​ ​knew​ ​and​ ​how​ ​he/she​ ​affects​ ​today’s
society​ ​and​ ​why​ ​they​ ​are​ ​so​ ​important.​ ​I​ ​wanted​ ​to​ ​do​ ​a​ ​research​ ​paper​ ​on​ ​someone​ ​that​ ​I​ ​didn’t
have​ ​any​ ​knowledge​ ​about,​ ​so​ ​I​ ​can​ ​have​ ​more​ ​of​ ​a​ ​learning​ ​experience.​ ​Her​ ​story​ ​and
experience​ ​had​ ​made​ ​me​ ​emotionally​ ​and​ ​now​ ​I​ ​can​ ​share​ ​it​ ​with​ ​you.​ ​Harriet​ ​Ann​ ​Jacobs​ ​was​ ​an
African​ ​American​ ​who​ ​lived​ ​a​ ​slave’s​ ​life​ ​and​ ​was​ ​able​ ​to​ ​obtain​ ​freedom​ ​within​ ​time​ ​of​ ​her​ ​life.
Later​ ​she​ ​was​ ​to​ ​write​ ​her​ ​story​ ​and​ ​help​ ​others​ ​abolish​ ​slavery.
Starting​ ​with​ ​her​ ​birth,​ ​Harriet​ ​was​ ​born​ ​in​ ​Edenton,​ ​North​ ​Carolina​ ​to​ ​a​ ​free​ ​black
carpenter,​ ​Elijah​ ​Jacobs​ ​and​ ​a​ ​female​ ​slave,​ ​Delilah​ ​Jacobs​ ​in​ ​1813.​ ​Since​ ​the​ ​mother​ ​was​ ​a
