1. What are some outsourcing opportunities in a restaurant?
In a restaurant there are many outsourcing opportunities. If a restaurant decides to
outsource globally the scope of the potential opportunities expands. Human resources and
the cleaning and processing of seafood such as shrimp and salmon from the suppliers can
be a cost effective way of using the logistics of distribution centers. Another opportunity
is to have the laundry and advertisements, promotions, or websites for the restaurant.
2. What supply chain issues are unique to a firm sourcing from 35 countries?
Outsourcing to 35 countries can be a daunting task for Darden. The Multinational
Corporation (MNC) needs to make sure that the product needs to stay fresh therefore,
time becomes a factor that poses an issue. The restaurants will have to have a continuous
course of fresh food. Maintaining a flow of food also can maintain the quality control of
food as well. The issue that is unique to this supply chain is that how easily the time
aspect can dismantle the rest of the chain. Darden has to know how the facilities in the
different countries are using quality control to exceed the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA) standards. In order to accomplish that, Darden has native-speaking personnel
residing in the other continents to give ongoing provisions. This will maintain the cost
effective way of using the logistics and quality control.
