Mumble Saves the Planet
Happy Feet, an animated film released in 2006, is a tale of a male emperor penguin
named Mumble as he attempts to traverse penguin society in Antarctica. Unlike other penguins,
this one has no “heartsong.” While this refers to a literal song that the penguins sing, it is clear
that this is used as a euphemism for the penguin’s ability to find a mate. Because of the lack of a
heartsong, Mumble finds integrating into penguin society very difficult and he is often rejected
by his peers. Despite all of his obstacles, Mumble finds a way to his way to the top of his society
