Briefly describe your work experience that you will analyze using OB concepts:
PART 1: One of my jobs in the Navy is to develop and teach the concept of Crew Resource
Management (CRM) to my command. CRM is comprised of seven skills/concepts that are
to be applied in real time in Naval Aviation in order to prevent a possible incident/accident.
The issue arose however on how to apply these skills/concepts as no mental model existed
on exactly how to apply them. The solution was a new model known as Threat and Error
Management, which was introduced in May of this year.
PART 2: While working as a legal officer (an advisor to the Commanding Officer of my
squadron on military justice) I witnessed my partner get berated by my Commanding
Officer and later get ranked unfavorably due to grammatical issues in some of the papers
we were submitting. My Commanding Officer was an English major in college and valued
grammar and proper formatting of paperwork above most things. My partner was not very
good at this as English was not his first language and issues arose. The Commanding
Officer because of my partner’s poor grammar and formatting began to assume that my
partner was lazy and a poor performer when the opposite was true.
Apply the OB concept to your experience: (This will be the major section of this journal.
The focus here is for you to clearly make the connection between the readings and your
experience. Re-read the instructions in the syllabus):
