Introduction
Dudamel is a Venezuelan born in 1981 and he is not only a violinist, but also a
conductor. At the age of ten, he was on the violin at Jacinto Lara Conservatory and later started
studying on composition. By 1995, he was conducting with Saglimbeni, and later with Abreu. In
2006, he married a ballet dancer from Venezuela who is also a trained journalist. Dudamel’s
music continues to inspire global audiences of all ages due to its passion.
Violin is a four-stringed instrument whose history mostly bases from Central Asia. It has
been a leading instrument in the classical era, although through different transformations in both
design and structure, it suits modern non-classical musicians. During earlier centuries, the
baroque emphasized the need for elaborate musical compositions. Dudamel acquired inspiration
from people like Abreu who were among the popular violinists of the twentieth century. The
musical world changes with modernization and that is why classical music continues to entertain
the society since they relate well with the changes.
Currently, Dudamel is a director of Los Angele’s Philharmonic and Venezuela’s Simon
Bolivar Symphony Orchestra. His music influences all the four global continents. He has been a
guest star in many events alongside popular artists due to his commitments regarding his posts,
while coping with annual tight schedules. Movie acting is a new line in his career and his first
foray is the composition of Libertador, a movie based on the life of Simon Bolivar. He is the sole
writer of this movie although Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra gave assistance in writing the
score and recording.
Dudamel has been in the music career for long and he continues leading his orchestra not
only in Venezuela, but also in several tours. In July of 2013, he did the production of
Tannhausser, and the venue was at Bogota Opera. During the same year, he had a summer
residency where he performed at Salzburg Festival. This very successful topur left many people
in dire need for more performance. After this festival, he toured Middle East and Paris in January
2014. This successful trip saw him head to California for joint concerts and residency with Los
Angele’s Philharmonic for another major festival named LA Phil Tchaikovsky Festival.
