Abstract
In the United States of America historically more citizens have died in the Continental
United States as a result of bullet wounds than soldiers as a result of armed conflicts in every
major war overseas. The use of firearms on homeland to commit crimes and acts of terror has
been the cause for the push to reform gun policy in the United States of America, and this
paper will serve to analyze the benefits as opposed to the disadvantages of enacting several
proposals to restrict the use of firearms into law as well as provide alternative support for
practical legislation that would effectively keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous persons
in the United States and reduce the overall rate of death involving firearms in the United States.

Introduction
The topic of this research paper is to analyze the consistent issue of gun violence within
America, and the effectiveness of gun control policies as a response to solve this problem. Gun
control policies are a sensitive and intricate concept within the United States. This paper will
provide a detailed explanation of the need for detailed not necessarily stricter gun legislation,
the motivating factors behind the demand for tighter gun control, as well as the statistical
analysis of the current toll firearms have on our society, as well as the benefits that have come
as a result of safe, legal, and responsible gun ownership.
