Abstract
Gun control is a very divisive topic that causes many individuals to take extreme stands on
pro-gun regulation and anti-gun regulation. The laws that are in place to regulate guns differ not
only on the types of guns that are available to the public for purchase, but also the types of guns
that are allowed to be carried in public. Firearms and their use comes under scrutiny when it is
compared to violence tendencies and crime in certain areas. Many believe that guns have a direct
and positive correlation to crime in that the more guns there are, the more crime there is while
others believe that without guns, the crime would still exist. All of these opinions and topics are
integral factors in arguments for pro-gun control and anti-gun control.

Gun control is a highly talked about and very controversial subject in the United States, with
many people falling on both sides of the argument. Depending on where you live, how you grow
up, and even your age can make choosing a side difficult. Due to these many factors, the
regulations and laws that are presented by congressmen and lobbyists often seem daunting as it is
hard to discern which facts are pertinent and which facts are being used to fuel hidden agendas.
Whether an individual is anti-gun control or pro-gun control, there are many areas of regulating
guns and opinions that fall in-between. Gun control is not a strictly black and white issue that
will directly increase or decrease crime based on the laws and regulations that are created for it.
Gun control is a complicated and divisive topic that needs to be thoroughly investigated to make
sure that the right decisions for the public are made (Anonymous, 2001).
