The possession of weapons in the house at that time, the first is for self-defense, the second is to
preserve the country. But more and more, when weapons are capable of mass killing, American society
is facing serious problems: It is shooting indiscriminately in schools, workplaces, and public places.
Therefore, the need to control gun ownership and use is to ensure the safety of society. However, the
current gun control is not effective in reducing the crime rate. There are three causes related to this;
these are: the rate of gun violence is still very high, the gun control is dominated by the extremely
powerful group, and language of the second amendment is relatively ambiguous.
First of all, gun control is not effective means to lessen crime because the rate of gun violence is very
high nowadays. Those who like to buy guns and keep in the houses believe that gun are a powerful
weapon for self-defend. But since American, we rarely hear anyone who has a gun that uses guns for
self-defend or to prevent them for successfully stealing. On the contrary, sometimes we hear students,
high school or college students, bring guns to kill teachers and friends, or the accident of children joking
with guns cause casualties.
Second, gun control is dominated by the extremely powerful group. They are plutocracies, producing
weapons. They frequently campaigned to neutralize gun control law. The National Rifle Association is an
example of one of the most powerful corporations in the United State., to focus it forces against the
tendency to control arms. This has effected the US government’s gun control decisions. This leads to a
looser gun control order, which makes it easier for offenders to own guns.
Third, language of the second amendment is relatively ambiguous. The ambiguity of the words in the
second amendment leads to a dispute involving a gun control decree. For example, “Militia” or “militia”
refer to whom? It could be a military collective or individual and the word “people” should be
understand as individual, or in the sense of “national”? The advocacies of keeping private firearms and a
disagreement so far has not been resolved. It has made gun trading more popular.
However, depending on the state of the United State, the rules governing the gun also have some effect
in limiting the indiscriminate sale and use of firearms. For instance, in Texas, citizens are permitted to
