American Government Why Gun Control is a Major Political Issue
Gun violence is a major issue for American society today; stemming from large cities
with heavy gun control to small towns with little to no restrictions. The issue of gun violence
has become a major political topic over the years, with liberals and conservatives alike arguing
over how to solve the issue of unnecessary gun violence. From a liberal standpoint, the
government should institute heavy restrictions on gun ownership, make background checks
required for purchase, and limit the size of magazines available to citizens. By doing this,
liberals believe it will prevent criminals from obtaining guns and reduce gun violence in the
