Growing Old in Vietnam: Through the Lens of An Elderly
Through Hữu Ngọc’s lens – one of Vietnam’s most celebrated scholars, the country emerges with
a long history of development buckled with war scars, a culture imbued with national identity with many
transformations over time, and a Southeast Asian country, though small but capable of doing amazing
things (2016). We have shown the incredible and inspirational transformation from a war-torn economy
into one of the high potentials of agricultural exports and dynamic society (Gainsborough, 2010). Despite
being a developing country with remnants of war against the French and American, Vietnam always
thrives to integrate with many other states about politics to expand trade, supporting human rights.
