1. What do you feel could be done by the coupon companies (such as Groupon) to create

2. What portion of "coupon customers" do you feel truly use the coupon to try a product or
service at a good price to determine interest versus those who simply buy products or
services sold only at drastic discounts?
3. To what degree do you feel that the pressure is on the merchant to create the return

repeat customers? Define it. (200 words)
4. Short essay. What is the value proposition for Groupon and other online programs like it

I feel as though Groupon or other coupon companies could help businesses create return
customer value for their clients by having the deals not be a onetime deal, but instead
having deals with forces the customer come back to the business and form a relationship
with the company. People respond well to relationships, especially when the original
reason they came to the business was for a coupon. One downside to Groupon is that it
usually attracts low-end bargain seekers (Pete Dawson Company). These are people only
looking for a one time deal, because they are trying to save the most amount of money, not
because they are specifically looking for a particular service. If the company uses Groupon
to advertise a certain dollar amount rather than a free (or almost free) service, it allows the
customer to try out their business without breaking the bank instead of just coming to get
the free service (Pete Dawson Company).
