Green Analysis
Green’s purpose in writing “But don’t all religions lead to God?” was to show how
unique Christianity is compared to other religions. A long-time friend of Green’s shared that his
program at the prison he visits was being discontinued because it placed Christianity at a higher
level than other religions and the political view was that all religions were the same and should
therefore be given equal preference. Another friend shared how the assemblies at her school
were being changed to Buddhism because of the belief that all religions lead to God. This book
shows the differences between the religious beliefs of Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam,
Judaism, and other religions.
Green uses the old Hindu story of the king and the elephant to describe how many people
can feel that all religions lead to God. This view focuses on the fact that even though the blind
