Part II: Free Response Questions
1. History is a collection of facts, some more stable than other, of our times past. It is
detailed information about certain events and people that have shaped todays society. It is
full of good and bad information that we can learn from to keep from making mistakes.
My opinion is that no, history cannot be changed. History is the past. What is done is done.
Basically, it is set in stone. Even if new information can be found, it cannot be changed,
but it can add to it. But what I do believe is that history can change the future, and
alternately creating a new history for yourself and others. If you study history, you can
gain knowledge of past mistakes or successes the people from past times made. What you
choose to do with that information is up to you, but know that from it you can learn how to
construct a bright future for yourself, loved ones, people around you, and ultimately, the
world. Therefore making new history.
2. Primary sources such as people and documents are the best sources to provide the most
valuable information about the past. People who experienced a certain event are cold hard
proof. They were there to experience whatever happened, so they can give you plenty of
information, but only if they do not show any signs of bias in their statements.
Documents such as newspapers, videos and diaries are just as useful. Newspapers should
provide the raw information of the event since it should come out shortly after an event
