A Swiss multinational conglomerate of food and beverages started in
1905 located in Vaud, Switzerland. Started in Europe and USA and
now doing business in more than 200 countries as leading brand and
offer such products as baby food, dairy products breakfast cereals,
Nutrition, beverages, pet cares and many more. In 2020 Nestle
generated sales of 84.30 billion CHF [Confoederatio Helvetica franc]
Currently Nestle has 447 factories and they have around 3.4 Lakhs
employees as per 2020 report. It ranked No. 64 in Fortune Global
500 in 2017 and No. 33 in the 2016 Forbes Global list of largest public
companies
Nestle’s roots are connected with India since 1912 and it’s been part
of the Indian growth story, and in India they majorly offer milk and
nutrition, chocolates, beverages, cooking aids kind of products
HISTORY
Company’s history begins in Switzerland 1866, under Anglo-Swiss
foundation with Condensed Milk product, where Henri Nestle
develops an infant food in 1867, and in 1905 both companies merge
itself and that merger known as a Nestle Group.
STAGES OF EXPANSION
In 1905, Nestle & Anglo Swiss had expanded more than 20 factories
using establish sales network over Africa, Asia, Australia, Latin
America. This year’s known as Belle Epoque” or “Beautiful Age” and
becomes a global dairy company
From period of 1915 to till 1935 company faced many worldwide
problems like first World War, 1929’s Great recession but company
steadily doing it business, and in 1938 they launched “Nescafe” with
tagline “powdered extract of pure coffee” which at that times
becomes a top revenue segment for Nestle
Over this period company launched many products like chocolates,
chocolates drink, milk powder for babies, vitamin supplement so
this kind of products are daily needs with high quality so gaining
customers becomes easy for companies.
When USA enters in second World War Nestle markets their
product as into American service personal and it gained immense
popularity between US troops.
AQUISITIONS
In 1947 Nestle aquires Maggie Company
Company has huge customor base at USA and Euorope
Nestle buys Marabou in 1962 a frozen food leader company and
goes for diversification and becomes minority shareholder in L'Oreal
-1974
After that Nestle launches "yogurt" and focused on health consious
consumers
Nestle buys Rowntrees in 1988 and added Kitkat, Smarties to its
portfoilo
Creates joint venture with Coca Cola for beverage partners in 1988
