Global Warming: the Solutions of the Cities
The global average temperature has increased constantly during the last several
years. This increase has been accelerated during the last decade because of the
increment of industrial activities and the lack of pollution control policies. The
environment is being affected by the way humans live, and the biodiversity of the
ecosystems, which is crucial to maintain the possibility of life on the Earth, is
subsequently being destroyed. In addition, the use of limited resources has increased
and the world is using them in an unsustainable way. There is enough evidence that
global warming is happening on the Earth, and several investigations indicate that the
damage that this can cause to our world can lead to human extinction, so the faster the
populations and governments act to control the problem, the lower the damage will be.
During the past years several solutions to combat global warming have been
proposed and suggested, like recycling, control of the waste of water, and use of shared
cars to go to work, but this is not helping to stop the problem. That is why governments
should be responsible to face the problem and initiate the proper solutions. One way
they can focus in is how to solve, or at least reduce and control, the pollution problems in
big cities due to some advances that allow the improvement of vegetation, living
conditions of the population, and the environment without changing the structure and
distribution of the cities.
