A. Regarding global marketing and international events, describe one factor contributing to
the decreasing price of gasoline at the pump. The government regulates the prices of
petroleum products by imposing a maximum price at which wholesalers and retailers can
sell these products. The ongoing developments on an international level have the prices
of crude oil experiencing adjustments. The local gas prices follow the international
trends. This is the information provided in a public announcement form St. Maarten.
Despite the statement, gas prices seem to decrease every year when it starts getting
cooler.
B. From an institution-based view, to what extent does government regulations affect the
start up of new firms in developed countries as opposed to developing countries? From an
institution-based view, it just all depends. The government regulations make starting a
new business more difficult. Before one can even start a business, the government
requires a list of fees to be paid, a deadline, and a penalty of shutting the newly started
business down.
C. Summarize the three modes that SMEs can use to enter foreign markets. The three modes
used for entering foreign markets are: direct exports, licensing/franchising, and FDI.
