1. What is Logistics? What is Supply Chain Management? Are they integrated or
separate functions within a business? Comment on at least two other learners’
responses.
Logistics is basically ensuring that all the material and personnel are in the right place at
the right time to make sure that s project or a business objective is accomplished.
The Supply Chain is the whole network of entities that participate in getting a product
from its origin to a customer. It starts with extracting the raw material and ends with the
final consumer.
Logistics Management is a supply chain management component.
Logistics Management is all about planning, implementing, and controlling the effective
forward-reverse movement of goods. It also includes sharing the related information
between the point of origin and the point consumption in order to meet customers
needs.
