Ready-toUse Therapeutic Foods (RUTF’s) have become a new way of fighting malnourishment
in underdeveloped countries. Haiti is one country that has received the benefits of RUTF’s.
RUTF’s were created to help both severely acutely malnourished children and moderately
acutely malnourished children get the nutrients they need from a safe food supply. RUTF’s such
as Plumpy’Nut have greatly benefited countries such as Haiti in the way that it provides children
with the vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals they need to live a healthy life.
Between 1990 and 1992, 4.5 million people in Haiti were considered undernourished;
between 1995 and 1997, 4.8 million were undernourished; and between 2003 and 2005,
