With suspense and action, the movie Get Out filmed in 2017, by the director Jordan
Peele, portraits and criticize slevery and racism through the cultural practices of the residents of
Armitage country estate. At the beginning of the movie, while Rose and her boyfriend Chris are
on their way to meet her parents they hit a deer. The officer that talks to them after the incident
asks for Chris’s ID, even though that he is not the driver. Later on, they arrive and Chris sees that
the housekeeper and the gardineer are African-American. At this point, Chris starts to notice the
culture differences in comparison to where he lives, New York. Later on in the movie, Chris gets
to know the truth about this town and how they use African-American’s bodies to host their soul
and personality. This explains the admiration that the community had for people of color as an
object or acquisition, instead of their background and cultural trades. An example of this can be
seen when Chris finds the pictures of past boyfriends that Rose had, almost portrayed as medals
or trophies. Lastly, throughout the movie microaggressions towards Chris are shown. For
example, Rose’s dad trying to use more slang and making clear that he voted for Obama or a
lady asking personal questions to Rose about Chris. In conclusion, the movie Get Out by Jordan
