Geronimo is one of those historical characters that everyone has heard of, but most
people do not know the full story of. Geronimo was a leader of the Apache tribe of Native
Americans. He was famous for leading his people against US troops to fight against white
colonization of the Apache homeland in the American southwest.
In his early years, Geronimo was a gifted hunter. Stories say that he swallowed the heart
